Joe Peterson

With more than 30 years of Safety, Health and Enviromental Risk Management, Joe Peterson is well-versed in navigating the details of capital expenditures and project management as well as mitigating production risks through value-added alternatives. He helps companies leverage prevention tactics to achieve strategic advantage through their EHS policies, specifically as it relates to combustible dust management.

In his role as the director of capital for the global products division of Alcoa, Joe oversaw the $400M+ annual budget and project spend reviews across 17 plants. Based on his expertise, he developed risk probability measurement for assessment of capital projects.

 

Joe also has significant experience in the area of combustible dust management. During his time at Alcoa, he helped rewrite the corporate combustible dust standards to better align with NFPA.

 

In addition to his extensive EHS knowledge, Joe also served in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Senior Command Chief after honing his skills in electronics, nuclear, people and systems management.
